كانت مدينة دبلن مركز أحداث العديد من الروايات، وهذا ليس بالشيء الغريب حيث تعود تقاليدها المكتوبة إلى عام 800 للميلاد والتي تتمثّل بكتاب كيلز المعروض حالياً في مكتبة جامعة ترينيتي؛ أقدم جامعة في أيرلندا. تعتبر المدينة مسقط رأس العديد من الأدباء المبدعين الأيقونيين مثل جويس، وبيكيت، وييتس، وشون، ووايلد، كما يمتزج سحرها الجورجي بشكلٍ مثالي مع فنون العمارة الحديثة والعائدة إلى العصور الوسطى، والتي تمنح دبلن شخصيتها المميّزة. لا يمكن إنكار واقع أن دبلن مدينة حضاريّة فقد لقّبتها منظمة اليونيسكو بمدينة الأدب عام 2010 للميلاد، كما يمكن لعشّاق التاريخ أن يختاروا ما يريدونه بما يخصّ المتاحف والمعارض الفنيّة، بدءاً من متحف أيرلندا الوطني والمكتبة الوطنية، ووصولاً إلى المعرض الوطني ومتحف دبلن الصغير الذي يحتفظ بالمنصة التي اعتاد الرئيس الأمريكي جون كينيدي استخدامها عند مخاطبة البرلمان الوطني عام 1963 للميلاد، وبدون أن ننسى طبعاً قلعة دبلن العملاقة التي يعود تاريخها إلى القرن الثالث عشر. إنّ من أفضل ما في هذه المدينة، إلى جانب ثرواتها العظيمة، سكّانها المحليّون فهم ودودون ولطيفون واجتماعيّون جداً، كما يتمتعون بخفّة الظل التي تزداد بعد عدّة كؤوس من جعة غينيس، حيث يمكنك اكتساب الأصدقاء بكل سهولة في حانات هذه المدينة التي يتجاوز عددها الألف، فقضاء بعض الوقت فيها يعد من النشاطات التي يجب على السياح تجربتها لأنها من أكثر التجارب الممتعة التي ستبقى في ذاكرتهم إلى الأبد عند زيارتهم أيرلندا. تتميز دبلن أيضاً بكونها مدينة يافعة، مع أعلى نسبة شباب من السكان، حيث أنّ نصف سكانها تقريباً تحت سن الـ 25 عاماً، وقد جعلت هذه الحقيقية منها مدينة حيويّة وعمليّة تشعّ بطاقة وطموح لا ينضبان. تفيض دبلن بالحانات غير التقليديّة، والمطاعم الفاخرة، والنوادي النابضة التي يعدّ موقع حانة تيمبل الصاخبة أبرزها. أما عروض الموسيقى الحيّة فهي عقيدة في أيرلندا، ودبلن هي قبلة عشّاق هذه العروض، حيث أنّ مشهد الموسيقى المباشرة في المدينة باهر فقد قدّم للعالم عدداً من نجوم الموسيقى العالميين مثل فرقتي U2 وويست لايف وفرقة سكريبت والمغنيّة سينياد أوكونر. ترحّب هذه المدينة المتعددة الحضارات بالجميع، فمدينة دبلن، هي كسكّانها، ذات شخصيّة مؤثّرة ومعدية حيث أنّه من الممكن أن ترفض فكرة مغادرتها.
